One of the highlights of the school calendar and sporting year, Sports Day, is set to take place next week. With the event on the horizon, we took the opportunity to speak with our Year 6 Sport Prefects about their experiences playing sports at Richmond House and the lessons they have learned along the way.
Melissa shared her insights: “I used to be super-competitive and focused on winning at all costs. But during my time at Richmond House, I have learnt that hard work and personal effort are what matter. I’ve also improved my teamwork since coming to Richmond House. I’ve learned to be more encouraging, which has boosted my teammates’ confidence and performance.”
Stanley expressed his enthusiasm: “Playing cricket at Richmond House with my friends is something I absolutely love. There’s such a great atmosphere, especially during hardball games, which are my favourite. Sport fills me with happiness, whether we win or lose. Just being able to play makes me happy. My advice to pupils playing sport at school is to fully embrace the experience.”
Priya highlighted her growth: “I love being outside and playing sports, and at Richmond House, we get to do a lot of it, which is great. My communication skills have really developed during my time at the school. I feel confident projecting my voice and have developed leadership skills. For anyone representing the school for the first time I would say keep trying and never give up.”
Jack spoke about his pride: “Representing Richmond House and stepping onto the field with them makes me proud. It’s a fun challenge we take on together. I feel happy and proud when we do well, but even when we don’t, it’s not a big deal because it’s all about having fun with my friends. I always look forward to Sports Day because it’s a chance to compete in various events and represent my house.”
